Rose

July 31 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

“There is a big difference between surviving and living.” In this moving version of ROSE, actress Susana Yasan embodies with intensity and delicacy a Jewish woman who journeys through the great upheavals of the 20th century: the shtetl, the ghetto, the camps, exile, and rebuilding in new lands. Sitting on a bench, with her body as a living archive, Rose doesn’t just tell her story—she relives it, questions it, and offers it to the present. Directed by Silvio Gressani, with original music by Ana Foutel, the production presents a dramaturgy of memory that moves through its rawness and ethical force. “I didn’t survive to stay silent,” says Rose, and that declaration of principle guides the entire play: remembering is not nostalgia—it is a political act, a form of justice. Presented to critical acclaim in Argentina, Panama, Miami, Atlanta, Cologne (Germany), and New York, this version of ROSE becomes an essential theatrical experience. Because, as Yasan shows in every gesture and every word, remembering—even when it hurts—is also a form of love.
