A Great Loss in Lubavitch

With deep sorrow and heartfelt reverence, we mourn the passing of Rabbi Avrohom Korf, the Rebbe’s Head Shliach to the State of Florida and one of the most distinguished pioneers of Chabad-Lubavitch outreach in the world. He was 92 years old.

Arriving in the United States as a refugee after surviving Nazi-occupied Europe and Stalinist Russia, Rabbi Korf answered the Rebbe’s call in the 1960s—when Florida was still a spiritual wilderness for many Jews. With boundless energy, unshakable faith, and heartfelt humility, he built a sprawling network of Jewish life across the Sunshine State, one Chabad House at a time.

His shlichus wasn’t just institutional. It was personal. Thousands recall how Rabbi Korf touched their lives with his warmth, his unwavering commitment to Torah, and his quiet but firm guidance.

Under his leadership, dozens of Chabad centers, Jewish schools, and mikvaos were established throughout Florida. He remained active until his final days, still traveling, speaking, and advising younger shluchim with the same fire he had 60 years ago.

He was a man of truth. A true shliach. A teacher, mentor, and spiritual father to generations.
