Jewish Israeli leaders response Charlie Kirk shooting

After Charlie Kirk is fatally shot in Utah, Jewish and Israeli leaders call for prayers and end to political violence

Jewish and Israeli leaders joined U.S. officials in calling for prayer and calm after the death of Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA. Kirk was shot while speaking at Utah Valley University.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli condemned the violence. They stressed the need for unity and urged people to reject political hostility. Jewish organizations in the United States, including the Orthodox Union and the Jewish Federations of North America, also expressed grief. They encouraged communities to pray and support one another.

Many highlighted Kirk’s strong support for Israel. They noted that his work helped connect conservative audiences with pro-Israel causes in the U.S. His death, they said, reflects the dangers of rising hostility in political life. Leaders also pointed out the importance of keeping civic spaces open and safe for dialogue.

Across political and faith lines, leaders repeated one message: violence must not be part of public life.
