Notification Regarding Eruv Service North of 73rd Street

Effective Rosh Chodesh Elul, the Miami Beach Eruv Council will no longer inspect or maintain the Eruv in areas north of 73rd Street, including Surfside, Bal Harbour, and Bay Harbor Islands.

This decision follows a public objection from the Mayor of Surfside regarding unauthorized Eruv work done without permits or coordination. In response, the Council formally clarified it had no involvement with the private Eruv construction.

The Council emphasized that it has always operated in full compliance with both halachic protocol and civil regulations—based on the directives of Rabbi P.A. Weberman zt”l—and expressed concern that unsanctioned activity poses risks to both its credibility and the halachic validity of the Eruv.

As of Rosh Chodesh Elul, the Council’s official Eruv boundary will end near the location of Rabbi Weberman’s original shul. Residents in affected areas are encouraged to consult their local rabbinic authorities for guidance.
