Kibbutz Survivors To Tell Their October 7th Story at TBTST

June 27 @ 1:30 pm - 5:30 pm

On Saturday, June 27th, 2026, Temple Beth Torah Sha’aray Tzedek (TBTST) in Tamarac will host a special program following Shabbat Services: “Surviving October 7th and Beyond,” featuring Kibbutz Urim residents Carmi and David Holtzer. Services start at 9:30 am with the program, part of TBTST’s Lunch and Learn Series, starting around noon.
Soon after October 7th, 2023, two survivors of the devastating attack on Kibbutz Nir Oz visited South Florida and sought solace and guidance at TBTST. Zionah Holtzer and Mijael Winitzky came to services with their two young children and met informally with clergy and congregants during a Shabbat Kiddush. Zionah and Mijael were invited to come back and tell their story but said they just were not ready to do so. Now Zionah’s parents, Carmi and Dave Holzer, long-time residents at Kibbutz Urim, will be at TBTST on June 27 to tell their stories and those of their family and community. They will also address the effects of personal loss in the extended and close-knit Negev Kibbutzim and provide an update on Zionah and Mijael.
Please note that the building entrance is through the parking lot off NW 58th Street, not through NW 57th Street. There is no cost, but pre-registration is absolutely mandatory. Please register on the TBTST website.
Event is free but pre-registration is required.
