Yom HaShoah Commemoration Features Story of Jewish Partisan

Tamarac’s Temple Beth Torah Sha’aray Tzedek (TBTST) will host a special Yom HaShoah Community Commemoration featuring author Joe Sabrin who will talk about his father, Holocaust survivor Abrashe Szabrinski, who story is told in Sabrin’s book, “We Dared to Live.” Arbrashe used the Yiddish typewriter that his son gave him to record a unique tale of survival and courage during the Holocaust. It was only after his father’s death that Joe found out the extent of Abrashe’s exploits as a leader of the partisans who fought the Nazis in the forests of Lithuania. Like many Holocaust survivors, Abrashe did not divulge the entire story of his survival to his children. Joe Sabrin will discuss his father’s legacy to him, his family and to us.
