Visit these 14 Jewish sites at Open House New York Weekend 2025

Every fall, Open House New York Weekend invites the public to explore hundreds of New York City’s most fascinating spaces. This year’s event, set for October 17–19, 2025, includes more than 300 sites across the five boroughs, among them 14 Jewish landmarks and cultural destinations .

Visitors can step inside the Museum at Eldridge Street, a restored 19th-century synagogue on the Lower East Side with breathtaking stained glass, or tour Temple Emanu-El, the massive Fifth Avenue sanctuary that remains one of the largest synagogues in the world. On the Upper West Side, Congregation Ohab Zedek will open its doors, showcasing its striking Moorish Revival architecture and iconic rose window.

The lineup extends beyond synagogues. The Brooklyn Seltzer Museum offers a taste of New York’s fizzy past, while the Derfner Judaica Museum in the Bronx presents ceremonial art with sweeping Hudson River views. At Castle Garden in Battery Park, visitors can walk the same grounds where thousands of Jewish immigrants first set foot in America before Ellis Island became the main gateway .

Some programs feature curator talks and guided tours, while others allow visitors to simply drop in and explore. Advance registration is required for select locations. Together, these Jewish sites tell a story that spans immigration, worship, art, and everyday life — woven into the broader history of New York.
