World Zionist Congress election results: Surge in US turnout, Reform slate wins most support
The 2025 World Zionist Congress election saw a major shift in U.S. participation, with a 65% increase in voter turnout compared to 2020. According to the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, the slate representing the Reform movement—under ARZA (Association of Reform Zionists of America)—earned the most U.S. votes.
ARZA secured 29 out of 152 American delegate seats, reflecting growing support for progressive Zionist voices within American Jewry. Close behind were slates representing Conservative Judaism (MERCAZ) and Orthodox parties (Eretz HaKodesh), which saw slight increases and declines respectively. Notably, this election also marked the debut of several new slates, representing diverse ideological and cultural perspectives.
While the World Zionist Congress holds no legislative power, it does play a critical role in influencing the direction and funding of major Zionist institutions such as the Jewish Agency for Israel, Keren Kayemet LeYisrael (JNF), and Keren Hayesod.
The rise in turnout signals renewed interest in global Jewish representation, particularly among younger and more diverse communities. Leaders from ARZA and MERCAZ attributed their success to stronger grassroots outreach, digital engagement, and a growing concern over religious pluralism in Israel.
The election results will shape funding decisions and institutional leadership in the coming years, with a strong American presence expected to influence debates around Jewish identity, inclusivity, and Israeli-Diaspora relations.
